Your First Bedroom as Husband and Wife

Moving into a new home is an exciting season of one's life! For newlyweds and soon-to-wed couples, there’s a lot of planning and shopping to do. What does your dream bedroom look like? Will you go for Japandi minimalism or do you want it to feel like a plush hotel room? #TeamPuti or dark and moody?

A cozy and comfortable bedroom is essential for a good night’s rest.Every couple should invest in a durable mattress and quality bedding, definitely. It can be hard to find a mattress that can accommodate both of your preferences, but being aware of each other’s needs and sleeping habits can help you arrive at a fair decision. If you are able, testing mattresses together is always a good idea before deciding. 

When shopping for bedding, keep in mind our climate. If it’s not extremely hot and humid, it’s cold and rainy. You don’t want to get stuck under a heavy comforter with a person that feels like a furnace or icicle either. Get bedding that’s thermo-regulating, keeping you both cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold, and moisture-wicking, so it doesn’t feel like a swamp under the sheets.

Start out with bamboo bed sheets. They’re mind-bogglingly buttery soft and breathable. The feedback we often get is that it’s harder to get up in the morning because they feel so good, and these days, who doesn’t want a problem like that? Get your sleep on.

This is all even easier to plan now that IKEA is here in the Philippines. Being able to shop for your home essentials online is so convenient. On our wish list is a new bookshelf that will accommodate both (his) sci-fi and business books, and (her) fiction and biographies. Sending each other links to furniture and other home essentials is our current love language.
